Sad Day for Nigerian Football!

Mikel & Essien

It was a sad day for Nigerian Football yesterday as the ‘not-too-Super Eagles’ were blown out of the sky by the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly match at Griffin Park, Brentford in London . The match ended with a 4-1 scoreline, goals came from Laryea Kingson, Sulley Muntari, Junior Agogo and substitute Asamoah Frimpong while Taiye Taiwo scored a consolatory penalty.

It was a lacklustre performance from the Eagles to say the least and the Black Stars were absolutely outstanding. The Eagles back four of Yobo, Abbey George, Obodo & Taiwo were easily breached. The midfield was nowhere although there were a few flashes of brilliance from John Mikel Obi. The attack was blunt and the few runs of Utaka were not well utilized. In short, we do not have a team!

Where do we go from here? Berti Vogts certainly has his work cut out for him.

Alas it wasnt meant to be and I ate my words.

  2. I feel you, Calabar gal. I actually thought along the lines o a miracle but more like the “Miracle of Damman” but alas…it wasn’t to be our lucky day.
